Tuguegarao City ICT Council jumpstarts preparation for the “Digital Age”, reviews proposed TED Plan for the City

The Tuguegarao City (TC) Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Council, chaired by City Mayor Atty. Jefferson P. Soriano and co-chaired by Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Cagayan Provincial Director Ma. Salvacion A. Castillejos and Servio Technologies, represented by Founder and CEO Joey Gurango, recently conducted an online meeting on 26 August 2020 via Zoom application.

The meeting sought to review the proposed Tuguegarao Technology Ecosystem Development (TED) Plan.

TED Plan is a 24-month plan to jumpstart the city’s technology ecosystem which is envisioned to inspire, educate and motivate young Tuguegaraoeños to pursue a career in technology, and contribute to the realization the ICT Council’s vision of making “Tuguegarao City as the Premier Ibanag Digital City by 2022”.

The plan is also seen to facilitate digital transformation, economic growth, and social well-being of Tuguegarao City and the entire Province of Cagayan.

In the presentation of CEO Gurango, he emphasized that the TED Plan would greatly benefit the youth and technology start-ups in the city. He added that a reliable infrastructure would play a significant role to implement the intents of the plan.

Meanwhile, Atty. Joana Pagurayan, Executive Assistant to the City Mayor, informed the Council that the Tuguegarao City Government, in partnership with DICT, is planning to connect all 49 barangays to free WiFi posts. The posts are strategically located in barangay halls, public schools, and other areas. Atty. Pagurayan added that 63 free WiFi posts were already established at present.

With all these, it is evident that Tuguegarao City is conscientiously preparing for the onset of the “digital age”, and Tuguegaraoeños will soon benefit from these developments.
