DTI R2 – Cagayan pushes for more investments in Cagayan, conducts webinar on marketing investment opportunities and potentials in the province

The Department of Trade and Industry Region 02 – Cagayan Provincial Office recently conducted an online “Capacity Building Training on Marketing the Investment Opportunities/ Potentials in the Province of Cagayan” on 10 July 2020 via Zoom platform.

The seminar aimed to capacitate Provincial/ City/ Municipal Planning and Development Coordinators (P/C/M PDCs), Local Economic and Investments Promotion Officers (LEIPOs), Information Officers (IOs), Tourism Officers, and Negosyo Center Junior Business Counselors (NC JBCs) on how to effectively and purposively promote the investment opportunities of their respective localities with the ultimate goal of generating investments.

In the Opening and Inspirational Message of DTI R2 Regional Director Leah Pulido Ocampo, she vibrantly shared the initiatives planned by DTI to attract local and foreign investors. She emphasized that the initiatives necessitate proactive actions from government and non-government enablers to undertake a cohesive and strategic approach in investment promotion. Hence, the LGUs were challenged to lay the foundation of an attractive investment destination.

Meanwhile, Resource Speaker Butch Salvador, investor and marketing guru, articulated that “the LGUs must prepare for the coming of investors” by continuously learning, adopting the best practices in investment promotion, and networking with the right people. He added that the LGUs could create a “thirst” for the investment opportunities that they offer and capture those in the best advertising materials.

In support to Mr. Salvador’s discussion, Mr. Charles Irvin P. Tagarino, DTI Cagayan Investment Promotion Officer, elucidated the basic needs of investors such as the availability of competent labor force, reliable infrastructure, conducive business environment, and attractive cost of doing business, among others. He also said that the LGUs could provide more intensive policy support and adequate budget for investments promotion.

In closing, DTI Cagayan Provincial Director Ma. Salvacion A. Castillejos  expressed her gratitude to Mr. Salvador for sharing his expertise on marketing and to all participants for actively participating in the webinar. She further emphasized that the LGUs should nurture their respective images, and create brands that express their localities’ most attractive attributes. Finally, PD Castillejos challenged the LGUs to create Investment Promotion Collaterals that would be strategically disseminated to target investors.

Over 70 participants from the Province of Cagayan actively participated in the webinar.
